Our body changes throughout life: cells die and regenerate. But with each decade they recover worse and worse. After 30 years, a person begins to lose 1-2% muscle mass per year, even if he leads an active lifestyle. All tissues of the body suffer losses, which is why signs of age appear on the skin. We call it aging and we know that it cannot be stopped.
The outward signs of aging appear around the age of 25
Why the signs of aging are visible on the skin:
- fat layer decreases;
- bone mass decreases;
- the connective tissue is destroyed.
Metabolism slows down in connective tissue. The building materials of our body are produced less and less: proteins (collagen and elastin) and polysaccharides (glycosaminoglycans). Roughly speaking, the aging process consists in the gradual loss of these components. What can we do? Just try to slow down aging. They often even improve the condition of the skin, rejuvenate it with the help of competent care.
How do facial essential oils work against wrinkles?
In plants, essential oils are involved in metabolic processes. The main components of esters - terpenoids and aromatic compounds - very quickly and actively enter into various chemical reactions inside the cells. Active chemical reactions also occur when ether comes into contact with human skin. Phenols, aldehydes, organic acids and alcohols in ether cause skin irritation and blood flows faster to the site of contact with them. Thanks to this effect, compresses and applications with oil work. The higher the concentration of the oil and the longer the exposure, the more active the skin reaction.
Essential oils do not contain vitamins. The vitamin is retained in water or in fat, in the ester there is no fat or water.
Using an anti-wrinkle face oil
When we need to treat fine lines and wrinkles, the possibilities seem endless. Should you choose an anti-aging cream or light moisturizer? How about a vitamin C serum or acid gel?
Essential oils cannot get rid of wrinkles, but they can help reduce them.
They can also:
- accelerate the production of collagen
- improving skin tone
- evening out the complexion
- reducing inflammation
- increase in epithelial cell turnover
- protect your skin from the environment
Which facial oil should I choose for wrinkles instead of cream?
One of the most valuable components of skin oils are lipids (fats). They stick the horny cells (scales) together, creating a protective barrier that locks in moisture. It also prevents the penetration of harmful microorganisms.
By applying it to the skin in its pure form, it seems to us that in this way we strengthen this protective barrier and the skin is saturated with moisture.
But the problem is that no vegetable oil contains a lipid ratio suitable for our dermis. When applied to the face, we immediately feel hydrated and comfortable, due to the fact that it smooths the cornified scales and softens. It also creates a film that retains moisture on the surface.
If we continue to apply it regularly, it will begin to penetrate deeper into the skin layer and eat away at our own lipids. Their ratio will begin to change, which will lead to the destruction of the lipid barrier. The skin will become even drier and flaky.
Therefore, to strengthen the lipid layer, it will be much more beneficial to consume fat internally.
But there is also good news. Thanks to their moisturizing and emollient properties, vegetable oils are ideal for dealing with wrinkles if you approach them wisely.
In combination with other components, they have a beneficial effect on the skin and smooth fine wrinkles. Therefore, it is even recommended to use them in various mask recipes.
But so that the skin does not get used to it, the recipes must be constantly changed. But more on that below. For the reasons stated above, it is not recommended to use it regularly in its pure form, so replacing it with daily care instead of a cream will not work, as it can cause serious damage.
For wrinkles, for additional moisturizing and softening, it is used in its pure form only in case of emergency for a course of 1-2 weeks. This must be done by observing the following rules:
- Before application, the face must be wet;
- the number of drops according to your skin type: dry 3-4 drops, normal 2-3, oily 1-2;
- after 15-20 minutes, blot the coating with a napkin, thereby removing the excess;
- after use, do not forget to apply a moisturizer;
- Apply oil to the eye area two hours before going to bed to avoid severe puffiness.
An effective and safer option for using anti-wrinkle oil is to add a small amount of drops to various masks, the recipes of which are given below. In combination with other components for 20-30 minutes, such compositions will only bring benefits, provided they are chosen correctly (more on this later).
Antiaging can be done 2-3 times a week. At the same time, to prevent the skin from getting used to it, it is recommended to change the composition of the masks once a month.
Which oil is right for you
If you've never used an essential oil in your skin care routine, try the most neutral scents to start, such as lavender. The main guide when choosing an oil will, of course, be the condition of your skin, its type and the existing imperfections that you want to remove. How to properly apply oil on your face: 3 ways
It can be applied in three ways:
In pure form like whey (sometimes)
It should be warmed to a warm state before use, as it is more effective when warm. To do this, just hold a few drops (dry 3-4 drops, normal 2-3, oily 1-2) in a warm palm for a few seconds and you can apply with your fingers with patting movements, always on clean and damp skin. Leave for 15-20 minutes, then blot with a tissue to remove residue. Don't forget to apply moisturizer.
But remember that this method should be used only in emergency cases for a course of 1-2 weeks.
Compresses under the eyes
Heat some oil until warm by submerging the bottle in warm water. Then wet two cotton pads and apply to the under eye area. Leave for 15 minutes, then blot with a tissue.
This should be done no later than two hours before bedtime and also for a course of 1-2 weeks.
